Oxford sits on a busy road and an old river
Oxford runs north to south along the French River with Route 12 and I-395 stacked beside it. North Oxford is its own place at the top of town, the center gathers around the common, and the old mill sites along the water still decide where the houses are.
Traffic is the local variable. Homes near Route 12 or within a few hundred yards of the highway collect road film, a fine grit and exhaust haze that dulls siding and looks worst on the road facing side. Water alone will not take it off. It needs detergent dwell time and a low pressure rinse, which is the same soft wash we run everywhere, just with more attention paid to the exposed elevation.
Back from the road, Oxford is ordinary New England. Capes and colonials with shaded north walls, asphalt roofs streaking on the slope away from the sun, gutters filling under maples.
Mill era houses closer to the river want the careful version. Low pressure only, plantings wet down before we start and rinsed again when we finish.
Oxford is an easy run from Pomfret. Text photos to (860) 553-9326 and a flat price comes back, usually within the hour. Fully insured, with the certificate sent ahead of the work.
