Low pressure. Right chemistry. No siding damage.
Soft washing does the cleaning with detergent, not with force. The rinse comes out closer to a strong garden hose than to a pressure washer, nowhere near the 1,500 to 4,000 PSI that gouges vinyl and strips paint. A biodegradable, plant-safe cleaner kills the algae and mildew at the root. The water only carries it off.
Order matters as much as the mix. We wet down the beds, shrubs, and lawn first so nothing takes up detergent. Then we apply the cleaner, let it dwell, hand-agitate the spots that need it, and rinse from the top down so nothing dries in streaks. Landscaping gets a second soak on the way out.
Northeast Connecticut is shade and moisture, which is why houses here go green faster than people expect. Oak and maple canopy keeps the north and east walls from drying fully, and that is where the film shows up first. Pollen coats everything in May. Road salt spray hits the front of the house all winter. Left alone, that mix holds moisture against the siding and stains the caulk lines for good.
Most homes look right on a wash every 12 to 18 months. Heavy shade or a house tucked into the trees, closer to yearly. Full sun on an open lot, you can stretch it to two years.

Surfaces we soft-wash
Soft washing works on every painted, vinyl, fiber, or porous exterior surface. We pick the detergent dilution per surface.
- Vinyl siding, all colors
- Cedar shake and shingle
- Fiber-cement, including HardiePlank
- Brick and stucco
- Painted clapboard
- Trim, soffits, and fascia
- Window frames and the exterior face of gutters
A whole-house wash takes two to four hours. Prep is closing the windows and pulling the cushions off the porch furniture. You do not need to be home. We walk the house with you before we pack up, and if something is not right we come back within 30 days.
What we will not do is put a pressure washer on your siding. High pressure belongs on concrete and hardscape, which is why driveway and concrete cleaning is a separate job with separate equipment. Same rule up top: black streaks on shingles come off with a soft wash roof cleaning, never with pressure.
House washing starts at $389 for a single-story cape or ranch, runs $475 to $575 for a two-story colonial, and starts around $550 for larger homes. Text two or three photos to (860) 553-9326 and a flat price comes back, usually within the hour. Most homes need no site visit. Adding gutter cleaning the same day saves a trip.

FAQs
Common questions about soft washing your home's exterior. Don't see yours? Text us a photo and we'll answer fast.
Soft washing uses low water pressure (about the same as your garden hose) and a biodegradable detergent, the chemistry does the cleaning. Pressure washing uses high water pressure with no detergent. Soft wash for siding, roofs, painted surfaces, and anything porous. Pressure wash for concrete driveways, brick pavers, and stone. We pick the right method per surface.
Yes. Detergents are biodegradable and rinse out at low concentration. We wet down landscaping before applying anything and rinse again when we finish. We've never lost a plant. Tell us about anything specific you're worried about when you book.
No, that's why we use it. High-pressure washing siding is what causes damage: gouged vinyl, lifted paint, water driven behind the cladding. Soft washing eliminates all of that by using chemistry at low pressure.
We prefer photos because we can see what you're describing. Phone quotes tend to under- or over-estimate. Texting photos takes 30 seconds and we'll come back with an actual number.
Most jobs booked Monday hit the calendar by Friday. Peak season (June–August) we book 1–2 weeks out. Off-peak (April, May, September, October) we usually have same-week slots.
