Why It Matters

We hang the lights. You enjoy the season.

Christmas light installation is one of the most common requests we get every November. We custom-fit warm white or full color commercial-grade C9 or mini lights to your home's eaves, roofline, trees, walkway, and porch posts. Nothing comes out of a box off a shelf. Every strand is cut and built to the measurements of your house, so the runs sit tight to the trim and the spacing stays even from one end of the roof to the other.

We install in November, take everything down by mid-January, and store all the lights and clips at our shop between seasons so you don't lose them or fight a closet full of tangled wire next year. Most homes are 3 to 5 hours to install and 1 to 2 hours to remove. You do not need to be home for either visit.

Book early if you want a say in your install week. Our November route fills up, and the calendar gets tighter every week through the fall. Homeowners who get on the schedule in late summer or early fall have the best choice of install week. The people who call after the weather turns pick from what is left. If you want the lights on before Thanksgiving guests arrive, or before a set date on your calendar, earlier is easier.

One thing worth sequencing. Have your gutters cleared before the lights go up. Our crew is on the same rooflines either way, and it is a lot simpler to pull leaves out of a gutter before there are clips and cords running along it. Book gutter cleaning for the fall and we can line the two visits up.

We are based in Pomfret, CT and cover Northeast Connecticut, Worcester County MA, and Rhode Island. Call or text (860) 553-9326.

What's Included

What's included with Christmas light installation.

Standard Christmas light installation includes:

  • Custom fitting of commercial-grade C9 or mini lights
  • Warm white or full color, your call
  • All clips, extension cords, and timers provided
  • Eaves and rooflines, walkways, porch posts, and one tree by default
  • Additional trees, fences, or yard features quoted separately
  • Installation in November, removal by mid-January
  • Storage of all materials at our shop between seasons
  • Two-year warranty against bulb burnout

Most homes run between $600 and $1,400 depending on roofline complexity and tree work. A single-story ranch with one straight front eave sits at the low end. A two-story with dormers, several gables, and a tall spruce out front sits at the high end. Send photos of the front of the house and both corners to (860) 553-9326 and we will get you a range before anyone comes out.

If you would rather not do this every year, look at permanent outdoor lighting. That is a slim track mounted under the eaves once and left there, warm white on ordinary nights and full color for the holidays, with no takedown in January. Pricing starts at $42 per linear foot. A season or two of seasonal lights is a good way to work out what you actually want lit before you commit to permanent.

Clean siding shows off lights better than dirty siding, and both jobs work off the same ladders, so a lot of people pair the install with a fall house washing. See service areas for the towns we cover.

What the job looks like depends on the house and the town it sits in. Local details here:

WHY APPLEWOOD Exterior Cleaning

Four things we do differently

365-Day Guarantee

We stand by our work. If algae or growth returns within 365 days, we come back and fix it at no charge.

Owners on Every Job

Applewood is run by two Pomfret natives, friends since elementary school. One of us is on site for every job, not a rotating crew.

2-Step Power Washing System

First we apply manufacturer-approved detergents that kill mold and algae at the root. Then we rinse with controlled pressure that protects surfaces. That's how we get results that actually last.

Fully Licensed & Insured

General liability and workers' comp on every job. Certificate of insurance on request. Plant-safe soft wash, owner-operated on every job.

FAQs

What homeowners ask most about holiday light installation. Don't see yours? Get in touch.

Can you give me a phone quote?

We prefer photos because we can see what you're describing. Phone quotes tend to under- or over-estimate. Texting photos takes 30 seconds and we'll come back with an actual number.

How quickly can you book me in?

Most jobs booked Monday hit the calendar by Friday. Peak season (June–August) we book 1–2 weeks out. Off-peak (April, May, September, October) we usually have same-week slots.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes, credit cards, ACH bank transfer, check. Payment due on completion unless we've arranged net terms for recurring commercial.

Do I need to be home?

Not for most exterior work. We just need access to an outdoor water spigot. We'll text photos of completed work if you're not there.

Should I do anything to prepare?

Close windows that don't seal well. Move outdoor furniture, grills, and rugs away from the house. Tell us about delicate plants, satellite dishes, or solar panels.

Are you insured?

Yes, fully insured with general liability and workers comp. COI available before any job. Just ask.

Still have questions?

Text us a few photos and we'll send a flat quote, usually within an hour.
