The town we know best, and how we light it
Applewood is based in Pomfret, so this is the town we know best and the one we reach fastest. We have been up and down Route 44 and Route 169 in every season, and we know what these houses are. Older colonials and farmhouses set back off the road, mature trees crowding the eaves, and driveways long enough that walking to the mailbox counts as a trip.
That layout changes what a light display has to do. In a village you light the front of the house and that is the whole picture. In Pomfret the approach matters as much as the roofline, because for most of the year the house is tucked behind trees, and in December the first thing anyone sees is the driveway.
Lighting an approach, not just a facade
On a long tree-lined drive, a roofline on its own reads as a small bright rectangle at the end of a dark tunnel. We take the eaves first, then pull the display forward with porch posts, the walkway, and one tree, which is what a standard install covers. Additional trees, fence lines, or yard features are quoted separately, so you are never paying for something you did not ask for.
Old Pomfret houses come with a wiring problem newer construction does not have. An antique home often has one exterior outlet, sometimes none at all on the side you want lit, so cord routing and timer placement have to be worked out before a single clip goes up. We supply all clips, extension cords, and timers, and we run the cords so nothing crosses a walkway or sits where a plow will catch it.
If you would rather stop repeating this every autumn, ask about permanent outdoor lighting at $42 per linear foot, which stays on the house year round and earns its keep well past December.
November install, mid-January takedown, stored at our shop
We install in November for a reason. Once the ground freezes and the first hard cold snap arrives, ladder work on a steep old roof gets slower and less safe, and nobody wants their lights going up the week before Christmas. Booking earlier in the fall simply gives you a better choice of install week.
Most Pomfret homes take three to five hours to install and one to two hours to remove. Removal is done by mid-January, and everything comes back to our shop for storage between seasons, so you are not hunting through the barn next November for a knot of C9s. The lights are commercial grade, cut to fit your rooflines, and carry a two-year warranty against bulb burnout. Most homes land somewhere between $600 and $1,400.
