Squeegee work, screens off, tracks cleaned out. What a house window cleaning should look like.
Window glass on a house does not get dirty evenly, which is why wiping it with a rag never works. Pollen coats the panes in spring. Sprinkler overspray puts hard water spots on the ground-floor glass and the sun bakes them on by July. By fall there is tannin running down from the gutter line and a screen full of dust that rinses onto the glass the first time it rains.
The fix is mechanical, not chemical. A wet scrubber loosens what is stuck to the pane, the squeegee carries it off in one pull, and a lint-free towel catches the border. Paper towels leave lint. Spray cleaner leaves a film you do not see until the low sun of the afternoon. That is the whole difference, and it is why the glass still looks right a month later.
Screens come out and get washed flat, not sprayed while they hang in the frame. A screen cleaned in place drips dirty water back down the pane you just finished. We keep them in order so each one goes back in the opening it came from. If a frame is bent or the mesh is torn, we point it out and leave it alone.
Interior glass gets the same pass. Drop cloths go down, whatever sits on the sill gets moved and put back, and we work room to room. Most homes take 2 to 4 hours depending on pane count.
Fall is the right time to book it. Once the leaves are down and the gutters are cleared, the glass stops getting rinsed with tannin water every storm, so a cleaning in October or November holds through the winter. Most people put it on the same visit as gutter cleaning.

What's included in residential window cleaning.
Standard residential window cleaning includes:
- Exterior glass on every window we can reach safely from the ground or a ladder
- Interior glass, room by room, drop cloths down
- Screens removed, washed flat, dried, and put back where they came from
- Window tracks brushed out and sills wiped
- Frames wiped along the glass edge
- Storm windows and interior glass doors on request
- Mirrors and glass shower doors on request
- A squeegee finish, no paper towel lint, no streaks two days later
Pricing is $8 per pane with a $200 minimum. Interior and exterior are both covered in that rate. Text a rough window count to (860) 553-9326 and you will get a number back.
Some things on glass are not dirt and no cleaning takes them off. Scratches from a razor or a screen frame. Mineral etching where sprinkler water sat on the same pane for years. The gray fog inside a double-glazed unit, which is a failed seal, not a cleaning problem. We say which one it is instead of scrubbing at it on your dime.
Windows are usually part of a bigger fall list. Most homes get them with house washing, since siding and glass dirty from the same road film. Storefront glass is a different job, covered under commercial window cleaning. Towns we cover are on the service areas page.
Old houses in this part of Connecticut hold far more glass per window than newer ones, and what that means for your price depends on where you live. The local details are here:
