Hebron keeps its houses under trees
Hebron is heavily wooded and stays that way right up to most front doors. Route 66 crosses the north end, Route 85 runs down toward Colchester, and Amston sits in the southeast corner with its lake and its own village feel. Gay City State Park covers a chunk of the northwest.
Canopy that close to a house is a maintenance problem. Roofs on the shaded slope streak dark within a few years, gutters fill twice a season, and the north wall greens faster than owners expect. All three are the same underlying growth, and all three answer to the same approach, a plant safe detergent at low pressure rather than force. High pressure stays on the concrete, where it belongs.
Amston Lake homes add moisture to the mix. Boards on a lakeside deck stay damp under trees and turn slick, which calls for cleaning and brightening rather than stripping.
The rest of Hebron is a mix. Older farmhouses on the country roads, newer builds on cul de sacs cut into the woods. The new ones tend to need roofs and gutters. The old ones need a light hand on the siding.
