Slatersville was laid out on purpose, and it still shows
North Smithfield holds Slatersville, arranged around a green with worker housing, a church, and the mill on the Branch River. It is one of the earliest planned mill villages in the country and the layout has barely moved since. Forestdale and Union Village sit nearby, and the north end of town runs to farm and field along the Massachusetts line.
Village houses here are painted wood, set close together, with details worth keeping. That rules out pressure. We soft wash them, meaning a biodegradable detergent lifts the growth and the rinse stays at a pressure that will not drive water behind clapboard or lift paint. Older glazing and trim come through it intact.
Up in the farm end the job changes shape. Longer driveways, barns and equipment sheds, and fence lines that catch weather from every direction. We put the whole property on one quote instead of splitting it into visits.
Route 146 runs the length of town, and homes near it collect road grit on the exposed side, which wants detergent rather than force.
