Farmington has one of the best preserved historic streets anywhere in Connecticut, a long run of 18th and 19th century houses along Route 4 near the river. Unionville is the mill village at the western end, the Farmington River curves through, and I-84 and Route 6 cross the southern part of town.

Houses like the ones on Main Street are the reason soft washing exists. Original clapboard, hand planed trim, old putty glazing, and paint that has been maintained for generations.
