Portsmouth has water on nearly every side
Portsmouth takes up the north end of Aquidneck Island, with Mount Hope Bay above it and the Sakonnet River along the east. Common Fence Point and Island Park sit up by the bridge, Melville and the boatyards line the west shore, and Route 24 and Route 114 run the length of it.
Neighborhoods this close to water get more weather than a map suggests. Wind carries damp and salt across whole streets, not just the front row, and low, tightly built houses near the shore hold it longest. Siding greens on the shaded elevation, and railings and decks grow a film every season.
Fence takes a beating out here too. Vinyl and wood both go green on the north and water facing sides, and both come clean with detergent rather than pressure, which would chalk the vinyl and fur the wood.
Boat side properties often have a shed, a shower enclosure, or a ramp that wants cleaning at the same time. Those go on the same quote.
Portsmouth is a long drive from Pomfret, so we take it by request. Text photos to (860) 553-9326 and we will send a flat price with a straight answer about scheduling.
